Background

Cydney Millstein is a preservation consultant, architectural historian, and principal/owner of Architectural & Historical Research, LLC, in Kansas City, Missouri, with nationwide experience in the field for over 25 years. Her work includes the examination and documentation of buildings and industrial typologies for a variety of clients, both public and private. She has lectured on many related topics and has published articles in professional journals including CRM and Legacies and was a contributing essayist for Pioneers of American Landscape Design I. Her book, Houses of Missouri: 1870-1940, co-authored with Dr. Carol Grove, was published by Acanthus Press, NY, October 2008.

Ms. Millstein has served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the National Association for Olmsted Parks, president of the Missouri Valley Chapter–Society of Architectural Historians and Chair, Nominations Committee for the Society for Industrial Archeology. She is currently a Trustee for the Liberty Memorial Association, Kansas City, Missouri and a member of the Cultural Landscape Foundation. Ms. Millstein has received several awards including the National Trust for Historic Preservation Honor Award; The Osmond Overby Award, Missouri Alliance for Historic Preservation; The State Historical Society of Missouri Brownlee Award; the U. S. General Services Administration/Public Buildings Service Award and the Dr. George Ehrlich Achievement in Preservation Award.
